At the end of May, my senior design team and I concluded our work on the scale model of the Hyperloop proposed by Mr. Elon Musk and completed as our senior design project for the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

We completed a great deal of work on the three systems we set out to build – an evacuated test tube, a linear induction motor, and a vehicle capsule – but there was still much to be done. Considering the several thousand dollars we invested and the culturally relevant nature of the project, I hope the department continues the project with future teams in subsequent semesters.
